A piston compressor operates intermittently (with stops), which is determined by its design, whereas a screw compressor operates on a continuous cycle, providing compressed air 24 hours a day without interruption.

This clearly shows that in facilities where a constant and uninterrupted air supply is required, the choice should be a screw compressor.

If we consider compressors with the same capacity, a piston (cylindrical) compressor is always 20–40% cheaper than a screw air compressor.

However, if you choose a high-capacity piston compressor, you must take into account its high vibration and noise levels. This often requires building a separate facility and/or finding a location with a strong foundation, which increases costs.

A screw air compressor is equipped with rubber mounts that reduce vibration, and it only requires a flat surface for installation. Its soundproof enclosure significantly reduces noise, making it possible to place the compressor in the same building where employees are working.

It is also important to note that since a screw compressor can be installed very close to air-powered equipment, it reduces costs associated with constructing a separate building and installing long pneumatic piping networks.
