If we consider compressors with the same capacity, a piston (cylindrical) compressor is always 20–40% cheaper than a screw air compressor.
However, if you choose a high-capacity piston compressor, you must take into account its high vibration and noise levels. This often requires building a separate facility and/or finding a location with a strong foundation, which increases costs.
A screw air compressor is equipped with rubber mounts that reduce vibration, and it only requires a flat surface for installation. Its soundproof enclosure significantly reduces noise, making it possible to place the compressor in the same building where employees are working.
It is also important to note that since a screw compressor can be installed very close to air-powered equipment, it reduces costs associated with constructing a separate building and installing long pneumatic piping networks.

Electricity consumption is a very important factor. Compared to a piston (cylindrical) compressor, the energy-efficient operating principle of a screw compressor allows it, after 5 years of continuous operation, to save an amount of electricity equal to the purchase cost of the compressor itself.
The low electricity consumption is due to the high efficiency (coefficient of performance) of the screw air compressor, which is significantly higher than that of a piston (reciprocating) compressor.
