Oil-free medical compressors IES — IESCO’s scroll series from 2.2 to 22 kW — are built for sites where oil must never reach the compressed air: hospitals, dental clinics, laboratories and food plants. Inside a scroll block two spirals never touch each other — one is fixed, the other orbits and gradually compresses the air towards the centre. Nothing is lubricated inside the compression chamber, so oil carry-over, oil filters and oily condensate simply do not exist.

How it is built

• Modular blocks — several independent scroll blocks in one cabinet, each with its own motor. The number of blocks defines the configuration: the series covers compressors from 2.2 kW to 22 kW.
• Permanent-magnet (PM) motor — each scroll block is driven by its own PM motor: high efficiency even at partial load, where an ordinary induction motor loses it.
• Direct drive — the motor sits directly on the scroll shaft, with no belt and no intermediate transmission: fewer losses, less noise and fewer wear parts.
• A variable-speed drive per block — every block has its own inverter, so the output follows demand and the pressure stays steady.
• Redundancy — one block out of service does not stop the system: the others keep running. For a hospital this is the decisive argument.
• Touch-screen control panel — pressure, operating modes and protections on one screen; the emergency stop is on the door.
• Air cooling — a designed air path through the cabinet and a compact footprint.

Frequently asked questions

How does an oil-free scroll compressor differ from an ordinary one?

In an ordinary screw or piston compressor the air meets oil during compression and the oil is then separated by filters. In a scroll block there is no oil in the compression chamber at all, so oil carry-over into the air is ruled out by the design itself.

How quiet is it?

A scroll block is among the quietest industrial compressors: vibration is minimal and the flow is continuous. The exact figure depends on the configuration — contact us and we will send it.

What maintenance does it need?
