Description
BOGE boosters (SRMV / SRHV series) are oil-lubricated piston compressors of the second stage: they take air that has already been compressed by a screw compressor (5 or 10 bar) and raise it in a single stage to a final pressure of up to 40 bar. Made in Germany by BOGE Kompressoren, Bielefeld — one of Europe’s oldest compressor manufacturers (since 1907).
Why a booster instead of a high-pressure compressor?
Most of a plant’s consumers run at 7–10 bar. Only a few processes — PET bottle blowing, laser cutting, pressure testing — need 25–40 bar. Running the whole network at high pressure is expensive; a booster compresses only the volume that these few consumers actually need, so:
- energy consumption is 30–50% lower than a stand-alone high-pressure compressor of the same output;
- the existing screw compressor, dryer and filters keep doing their job — the booster receives clean, dry air;
- the unit is compact and can be placed right next to the consumer.

* at 40 bar final pressure; inlet pressure is selectable between 2 and 10 bar and final pressure between 16 and 40 bar. The SRMV series covers medium pressures (up to 20 bar) with the same design.
Design features
- Single-stage compression optimised for high final pressures — fewer moving parts, less heat, simple service;
- air-cooled, oil-lubricated block with generously sized cylinders — low speed, long service life;
- integrated oil-level monitoring and pre-filter on the intake;
- safety valve, pressure switch with automatic start/stop, vent-down (unloaded start) available;
- super-silenced canopy versions available for installation on the production floor.
Applications
- PET bottle and container blow moulding (30–40 bar);
- laser cutting — boosting nitrogen from a PSA nitrogen generator or compressed air as assist gas;
- pressure and leak testing, hydraulic and pneumatic test benches;
- engine starting air, moulding and injection processes.
